Description
Product Overview Lorazepam 2 mg is a prescription medication belonging to the benzodiazepine class. It acts as an anxiolytic (anti-anxiety agent) with sedative, hypnotic, and muscle relaxant properties. It is primarily used for the short-term management of severe anxiety disorders, anxiety associated with depression, or anxiety-related insomnia. Lorazepam works by enhancing the effects of a natural chemical called GABA in the brain, producing a calming effect.
Important Warning This medicine is intended for short-term use only (typically 2–4 weeks maximum, including tapering). Prolonged use can lead to tolerance, dependence, addiction, and severe withdrawal symptoms. It is a controlled substance with high potential for abuse and misuse. Concomitant use with opioids can cause profound sedation, respiratory depression, coma, or death. Always follow your doctor’s instructions precisely.

- For insomnia due to anxiety: 2–4 mg taken as a single dose at bedtime.
- Elderly or debilitated patients: Start with lower doses (e.g., 1–2 mg daily in divided doses; initial dose should not exceed 2 mg) due to increased risk of side effects.
